Fisheries and Aquaculture Assessment

	The skills that can be provided to help improve wild fisheries and aquaculture are reflected in the projects EnviroCentre has been involved in throughout the UK and Europe.

Fisheries:

• Fish pass design and easement measures for wild fisheries
• Fully qualified electrofishing/fish survey (SFCC and EA)
• Trap and net surveys (trap, drift, seine, trawl, fyke and gill)
• Monitoring species of conservation importance (lamprey, crayfish, salmon and freshwater pearl mussels)
• Fish rescue (capture, transportation, and relocation)
• Aquatic macro-invertebrate ecology and assessment
• Water quality, hydrology, hydraulics, engineering, modelling and GIS mapping and analysis
• River corridor, macrophyte and fisheries habitat surveys

Aquaculture:

• Securing abstraction and discharge consents
• Water treatment techniques (including innovative approaches)
• Liaison with statutory bodies and site operators
• Environmental assessment and monitoring
• Assessing aquatic lease and planning applications
