OIL & GAS
SECTOR: OIL & GAS
The rate of decommissioning in the UK is expected to rise significantly over the coming decades, with up to 300 offshore oil and gas installations and associated infrastructure requiring decommissioning.
To date, the majority of decommissioned installations have been removed to shore for dismantling, re-use and recycling. This process generates a variety of hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams which require careful management. The most significant of which includes scrap metals (steel, aluminium and copper), concrete and plastics, hazardous wastes such as oil contaminated materials and chemicals, and radioactive wastes such as sealed radioactive sources and Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM).
Our team has experience providing waste and decommissioning solutions for the offshore oil and gas industry and has provided advice and support relating to offshore regulatory requirements. Having undertaken a number of decommissioning projects and a range of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and other related studies, we offer in-depth knowledge to draw upon for decommissioning work and significant project management experience.
