North Berwick Coastal Erosion
On behalf of The North Berwick Golf Club, EnviroCentre have been commissioned to design, manage and procure an engineering solution to coastal erosion issues at North Berwick Golf Club. As this is one of Scotland’s most prestigious golf courses which plays a significant role in aiding the local tourism economy, it was imperative that the club found an issue to gradual erosion processes which may threaten some holes without intervention. EnviroCentre’s civil engineering, coastal processes, coastal ecology and EIA processes came together to design a solution and provide environmental assessment of the potential impacts of coastal intervention, and we provided advice on planning and consenting throughout the process.
A targeted Environmental Statement was prepared across ecology, coastal processes and cultural heritage, and was submitted to East Lothian Council in August 2017. Determination is awaited and we continue to liaise with Regulators and the local community.
