A responsibility to PROTECT &
Future generations depend on it.
EnviroCentre recognises the responsibility to conduct business in a way that protects and improves the state of the environment for future generations.
We have a certified ISO14001 Environmental Management System; however, we understand that the long-term well-being of society, the well-being of our employees, the strength of the local economy, and the continuing success of our own business goes further and depends on a commitment to a sustainable environment.
Our sustainability thinking is based upon the following principles:
To comply with, and exceed where practicable, applicable legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
EnviroCentre has for many years conducted business and implemented strategic and operational decisions with sustainability as a core corporate principle, and we have now elevated this principle as an integral part of our business agenda. We are reaffirming our commitment to integrate environmentally friendly policies and practices into our organisation by operating in a manner that promotes energy and materials conservation, as well as waste reduction. We are also committed to assisting our clients in analysing, reducing, and managing their own environmental impact and risks.
Our sustainability programme has three components:
Our commitment to take action to reduce the impact of our own activities.
Our commitment to provide clients with the expertise, advice and solutions that help them with their own sustainable challenges, and to support them with opportunities where environmental issues are present.
Our commitment to provide our employees with an environmentally conscious workplace.
As a medium sized environmental consultancy with clients in Scotland, the wider UK, Europe and the Americas, we will continue to work to develop and implement environmentally responsible business practices throughout our organisation and strive for sustainable growth of both our own and our clients' organisations. We encourage our employees to join us in the journey by supporting and furthering our environmental efforts.
As a responsible company, our vision is to create long-term values for our business and the well-being of the communities in which it operates. We have evolved our approach to social responsibility beyond our already strong employee engagement, environmental stewardship and community commitments.
EnviroCentre in the Community

EnviroCentre stepped in to provide support in kind for plans to redevelop Annan harbour as a pay back to the local community. The project involved obtaining samples of the silt from the harbour in order to understand any environmental concerns present in it. EnviroCentre carried out the sampling at a low tide, when our Sampling and Monitoring Specialist, Alan Kelly took silt samples from three different locations at Annan Harbour, along with measuring the depth. The samples were then taken to a lab to check for potential environmental complications, such as the presence of heavy metals.
In an interview with the Annandale Observer Newspaper, Prof. Fleming said, “I am a great believer in restoration and regeneration, and a great believer in sustainability, and this site is a great asset to the community. If it can be turned back into a useful asset to the community - I like doing that sort of thing".
Friends of Possilpark Greenspace
After meeting the Project Manager for Friends of Possilpark Greenspace (FOPG), EnviroCentre became aware of the proposals to turn Hamiltonhill Clay-pits (the site behind Partick Thistle's football ground that runs round to Scottish Canals offices) into a Local Nature Reserve of which SNH are supportive as well. We offered to assist FOPG in investigating their site, by looking at hydrology, land quality and ecological status of the site. To kick this off, we undertook a visit and conducted some mapping/characterisation of the site. As well as surveys, we also volunteered to carry out some clean-up of the old school stairs at The Whisky Bond, which are becoming very overgrown and as a result are at risk of becoming destabilised in the future.
CSR is already deeply embedded in our everyday business, and over the past 5 years our staff have delivered support to our nominated charities, including:
